Jesus makes a very interesting statement at the end of the portion of Matthew's Gospel that we hear on the Third Sunday of Advent this year: "Amen, I say to you, among those born of women there has been none greater than John the Baptist; yet the least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he" (11:11).
