Redemptorist Father Vincent Paul Crotty, 88

Redemptorist Father Vincent Paul Crotty, who served in parish and hospital ministry in Rochester, died on Dec. 16, 2011, in Timonium, Md. He was 88.

Father Crotty was born in Sayre, Pa. He professed his first vows on Aug. 2, 1944, and was ordained on June 19, 1949. For the first 13 years of his priesthood he

served on the foreign missions in Brazil in Ponta Pora, Campo Grande, Ponta Grossa and Curitiba. In 1964 he returned to the United States to serve for more than four decades in parish and hospital ministry in Rochester, Long Island, Baltimore and several communities in Pennsylvania.

A funeral Mass for Father Crotty was held Dec. 19, 2011, in Maryland, with burial at Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetery in Baltimore.

Vin was a wonderful person. His classmate, Lawrence Buckley, was a cousin of mine.

St. Marey's class of 1943 was a wonderful class.
