Cancer awareness is personal for CYO team

For several weeks in October members of the fifth- and sixth-grade girls' CYO soccer team at Brighton's Seton Catholic School took to the field sporting accessories in every possible shade of pink -- socks, cleats, shorts, headbands and hair ties, and even used a pink ball. When they ran out of pink clothing options, some girls sprayed pink coloring in each other's hair. All of these colorful wardrobe choices were meant to show their support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Among those in attendance for an Oct. 11 game was breast cancer survivor Jen Topa, who has two children attending Seton. At halftime the team gave her a signed ball in honor of her battle with cancer. Topa and some of the girls shared their thoughts with the Catholic Courier. What a wonderful tribute to Jen topa. God Bless her and her family. I feel very proud of the children in the Seton community and lucky to be a part of our great school.

How awesome of our Seton girls - our faith in action. The 5/6th grade boys played after the girl's game, they showed their support too by being wearing pink for their game. Blessings to the Topa Family.
