Thinking of others at Christmas

Each year during Advent, Fairport's Church of the Assumption offers middle-school-age religious-education students an opportunity to help those who are less fortunate than themselves. This year about 40 sixth-, seventh- and eighth-graders turned out on Dec. 13 to help pack, wrap and decorate donated clothing items that will be given to needy kids. Catechetical leader Cathy Tocci, who organizes the Advent giving project, and 11-year-old participant Charlotte Nazarian spoke to the Catholic Courier about the importance of giving at Advent and all through the year. What a beautiful expression of the Lord's love and the true spirit of the season!
