Pope Benedict XVI proclaimed the Year for Priests on June 19, 2009, to encourage prayers for priests to always be faithful to their sacred calling, and also to pray that faithful men might hear and answer the call to priestly ministry. In recognition of the end of this special year, a handful of priests in the Rochester Diocese recently reflected on their journeys to the priesthood. These portraits illustrate the importance of the priest's role and mission in the church in our contemporary society.
