Fidelis Care now features several Southern Tier outlets in its network.
Fidelis, the health-insurance plan provider founded by New York state’s Catholic bishops, has aligned with Guthrie Health, which operates throughout the Tier area. Guthrie has begun offering Fidelis Care at locations in Watkins Glen, Schuyler County; Corning, Bath and Erwin, Steuben County; Apalachin, Owego and Waverly, Tioga County; and Ithaca, Tompkins County.
Fidelis Care, begun in the Rochester Diocese in 2007, provides affordable health care to nearly 685,000 members in 58 counties throughout the state. It offers free or low-cost Child Health Plus, Family Health Plus and Medicaid Managed Care programs. Through these programs, Fidelis Care members are covered for checkups, preventive care, hospital and emergency care, eye exams, dental care, and more. Fidelis also offers programs to manage such chronic diseases as asthma and diabetes, and to assist new mothers and their babies.
