With nine-tenths of its goal met and four months remaining for contributions to be made, the Catholic Ministries Appeal is well on its way to another successful finish.
According to David Kelly, CMA campaign manager, the 37th-annual appeal has garnered commitments from diocesan Catholics adding up to just under $5.9 million as of Feb. 5. That total represents 90 percent of the $6.55 million goal. Many parishes have already surpassed their individual goals or are on the verge of doing so.
Campaign proceeds provide funding for more than half the diocesan budget, fully or partially supporting programs, services and ministries around the 12-county Diocese of Rochester. An informational video can be viewed at www.dor.org/index.cfm/stewardship/annual-appeal.
“We are grateful that thousands of families across the diocese have chosen to support this year’s Catholic Ministries Appeal,” Kelly said. “Their support allows us to keep crucial ministries vibrant – ministries that evangelize our youth and young adults, minister to the aged and infirm, and help those families who lack the basic necessities of life, such as food and clothing.”
The theme of the 2017-18 campaign, which began this past fall, is “Glorifying the Lord By Our Lives.” The appeal will conclude May 31.
Contributions may be made by mail using parish-provided envelopes, or online at www.dor.org/index.cfm/stewardship/give-online.
