Our Lady of Victory/St. Joseph Church is kicking off their celebration of their sesquicentennial anniversary with a lecture by one of the U.S. leading theologians, Dr. Janet E. Smith. She will be presenting a lecture titled, "The Spectacular Story of the Genesis of Humanae Vitae." An explanation of the history of the Catholic Church’s teaching on contraception, especially of the work of the Special Commission that advised Pope Paul VI to change the Church’s teaching, the shaky response of some bishops’ conferences, and the role that Karol Wojtyla played in the shaping of Humanae Vitae. We shall also review how successfully the American Church taught this teaching for the first half of the 20th century. Contact Daniel E. Geen for additional information (dgeen@mygvpt.com)
